Well done to our Girlsโ Hockey Team - Tri County Hockey
๐ Well done our Girls' Hockey Team who represented Orritor Primary School so proudly at the TriโCounty Hockey Tournamentheld today at Cookstown High School ๐๐
From the very first whistle, the girls played some superb hockey throughout the group stages, showcasing excellent teamwork, skill and determination ๐ชโจ. Their passing, movement and workโrate were a real pleasure to watch, and their attacking play produced some fantastic goals โฝ๐ฅ. Winning four games and narrowly losing just one, the team progressed deservedly to the semiโfinals ๐โ .
In the semiโfinal, Orritor faced a strong Moneymore PS side in what proved to be a tough and tightly contested match. There was nothing between the two teams, with exciting endโtoโend hockey and chances at both ends ๐โ๏ธ๐. When the match finished level, it went to runโins, and the girls showed tremendous composure and resilience, winning in sudden death to secure their place in the final ๐ฏ๐.
The final saw Orritor come up against Killyman PS, a team they had already lost to during the group stages. This was another intense and entertaining encounter, with both teams creating chances and battling hard throughout ๐ฅ๐ค. Orritor showed great character to take the lead, but Killyman equalised with just two minutes remaining, sending the match to the dreaded runโins once again ๐ฌ. On this occasion, Killyman held their nerve to win the tournament. Well done to Killyman PS on a wellโdeserved victory ๐๐.
While the final result did not go our way, the girls can be immensely proud of their performances throughout the day and across the entire season โญ๐. They have enjoyed a wonderful hockey season, playing lots of matches, developing their skills, making special memories and representing Orritor Primary School with pride, sportsmanship and determination ๐๐. They have truly made everyone at Orritor PS very proud ๐.
A huge thank you to Mrs McGowan for her dedication, encouragement and hard work in supporting the team throughout the season ๐๐, and to all the parents for their continued help, encouragement and support ๐๐จ๐ฉ๐ง๐ฆ.
Thank you to Cookstown High School for the use of the pitch and facilities.
We also say thank you to our P7 girls who played their last hockey match for Orritor Primary. These girls have been excellent over the last few years, setting the highest of standards, showing great skill and most of all having fun. Thank you Chloe P, Hannah, Sophie, Kathryn and Chloe H.
๐๐ Well done, girls — a fantastic effort and a season to be very proud of! ๐๐
