P2 engaged in a fun and creative task by making sunflowers using their handprints. We then measured our sunflowers using non-standard units, such as cubes and pencils. After that, we compared whether or not our sunflower was taller or shorter than a metre stick. We began to explore centimetres using the metre sticks to measure our sunflowers accurately.
After measuring our sunflowers, we compared our results, to work out who made the tallest and the shortest sunflower in the class. Finally, we gathered our classmates measurements and created bar charts to display the different heights of all our sunflowers. 🌻
