The Nursery children had a very exciting week! The builders arrived to start our new Nursery. The children had great fun watching the excavator, dump truck, lorries and cement mixer.
We embraced the children's excitement and interest in the builders by adding construction vehicles to our provision. The children enjoyed transporting conkers, exploring the kinetic sand and even making marks with the vehicles.
The children also used the construction materials and loose parts to make the new Nursery. We hope the designs for the actual Nursery are as fun as the ones our children came up with!
The children have been very interested in making marks so we also added our electronic light up writing boards and white board markers to our white board. The children had lots of fun exploring both resources.
To add to our very exciting week we were lucky enough to have snow. The children became snow artists and explorers. We brought powder paints out - but we had a problem - we had no water! The children used the snow to mix with the powder paints - exploring changing state; adding snow to the powder to make liquid paint. The children really enjoyed using the snow paints to paint pictures, the snow and even snowballs!
We then used the snow paint the next day to make dropper paintings, helping to strengthen our fine motor skills and the little muscles in our fingers. One of the children even said the paintings looked like fireworks.
We can't wait to see what next week brings and to see what vehicles we can see on the building site.
