๐ Pumpkin and potion fun in Nursery ๐งช
This was one of our favourite weeks in Nursery - pumpkin and potion exploration!
The children had a very busy week...
- We explored potion making - watching the change when we added vinegar to bicarbonate of soda. One of the children called them 'volcano potions' as it was like they were erupting like a volcano!
- We explored colour mixing. Mixing red and yellow to make orange. We used our orange paint to paint pumpkins.
- We drew pumpkins from observation with graphite sticks and coloured pencils.
- We explored the insides of pumpkins - the children used super language to describe the insides of the pumpkin. Here are some examples - cold, soft, slippery, yucky, squishy, smelly, slippy, comfy, feels good, squishy like noodles.
- We worked on our balance outside - we progressed our planks a little higher to take safe risks and explore our balance.
- We used our motor skills and hand eye co-ordination to hammer golf tees into pumpkins - we then stretched elastic bands around the tees and balanced pompoms on them to give our finger muscles an extra challenge.
- We rolled our new orange dough that the children made to make pumpkins. We also used miniature pumpkins to make impressions in the dough.
- We used our finger muscles to pick off stickers and stick them on the pumpkin - taking our inspiration from the artist Yayoi Kusama.
- Counted our spiders and caught them with our tongs.
- Lots of other fun things in Nursery that the children came up with.
We are so proud of the way the children have settled into Nursery. We wish all our Nursery family a lovely half term break. We can not wait to see you for more fun and learning after the half term break.
