Primary 7 Parents – Transfer to Post-Primary September 2026
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Please see the attached document which has been prepared to support you through the post-primary application process for September 2026.
Applications will open on EA Connect on Monday 27th January at 12:00 noon and will close on Wednesday 19th February at 12:00 noon.
The guide explains the key steps involved and provides helpful advice to support you in making your application.
If you have any questions or require further support, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
Applying for a Year 8 place (P7 Transfer)
Parents must apply online using EA Connect for their child’s Post Primary (Year 8) place for September 2026.
π Key Dates

Applications open: 27 January 2026 at 12 noon

Applications close: 19 February 2026 at 12 noon
β οΈ Applications submitted after this deadline will be treated as late and this may reduce the chance of being offered a place.
π₯ How to Apply

Apply online via EA Connect (available through the EA website)

Use a supported browser such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Safari

Internet Explorer is not supported
Applications are not first come, first served, but parents must ensure all information is correct before submitting.
π« Choosing Schools

Parents have the right to express school preferences, but places are not guaranteed

Many Post Primary schools are oversubscribed

It is strongly recommended that parents:

List at least 4 schools
-
Include at least one non-grammar school

Up to 12 schools can be listed
-
Parents should carefully read each school’s admissions criteria before applying.
π§Ύ Special Educational Needs

If a child has a Statement of SEN – parents should not apply on EA Connect
Placement will be discussed through the annual review process. -
If a child is under assessment but does not yet have a Statement – parents must apply through EA Connect.

Parents can check if their child may be eligible for transport assistance on the EA website.
