Planting, Learning and Growing in P2 π±πͺ΄π»
Over the past two weeks, P2 have been digging deep into the topic of Growth.
We have been learning to recognise and label the different parts of a plant. We took a nature walk around the school grounds, in our photography groups, to capture the different parts of plants. πΈ
Our little green fingers, have been carefully planting cress inside our delicate eggshells. We have been taking great care to water and nurture them daily - especially during last week’s warm sunshine. We have been really excited to observe the changes and growth every day. We love watching the cress ‘hair’ grow on our eggshell faces. π₯π±
We investigated what conditions cress grows best in. We placed our experiment cress pots in different environments to test the effects of light, water and warmth. We made predictions for which pot we thought would grow the best. πͺ΄
We have been exploring the similarities and differences between the needs of plants and people by sorting them on a Venn diagram. We worked together to decide where each picture should go on the diagram and explained our thinking. βοΈπ§
In literacy, we picked our favourite flower and wrote WOW sentences to describe their colour, shape, size and texture. π»π·πΌ
At the art table, we studied the work of Vincent Van Gogh and created stunning sunflower pictures using oil pastels. We had to blend some colours together to add more depth to our beautiful creations. π§πΌπ¨
