Physical development ideas.

23rd Mar 2020

Here are a few ideas of outdoor (or indoor) physical activities that I took part in at the recent Early Education Conference. Hopefully you might find some of these useful over the coming weeks.

1. Make a mini garden in a food container - use soil, compost, flowers, stones, moss, grass, bits of wood, etc. Use it to play imaginatively with small world figures like people and animals.
2. Thread leaves - either punch holes in leaves and use a mini stick to thread or use a plastic need to make a leaf garland.
3. Bird feeders - poke sunflower seeds into apples to make a natural bird feeder.
4. Make stickmen - use wool or thread to wind round the sticks to decorate.
5. Use old frames to make natural transient art pieces.
6. Crush up chalk, leaves, flowers, soil and add water to make paint. Make your own natural brush with a stick and grass/moss/ferns and see what different marks you can make.
7. Explore with old padlocks and keys. Really good for fine motor skills.

Have fun!! Miss Thompson.
