Pearson Cup Qualifiers – Boys’ Hockey
10th Mar 2026
Today it was the boys’ turn to play in the Pearson Cup qualifiers at Cookstown High School. The team had a great mixture of youth and experience in their ranks and were eager to get started.
They began the tournament with two tough games against Moneymore Primary School and Cookstown Primary School. The boys played some lovely hockey in both matches but were unfortunately undone by some excellent finishing from the Moneymore and Cookstown teams.
The boys lost a little confidence after these games, and this showed in a narrow defeat against Ballytrea. However, after a short break they regrouped well and battled hard to earn a fantastic 0–0 draw against Donaghey Primary School.
They then faced a hardworking Donaghmore side and, despite their best efforts, came away with another defeat. The final game of the day was against Coagh, and the boys finished the tournament on a high, playing some lovely hockey and showing great determination and teamwork coming away with the win.
The boys should be very proud of themselves for never giving up and working hard throughout the entire tournament.
A big thank you to the parents who came along to show their support and to Mrs Dallas for driving the children to the matches.
We are very proud of you boys and are looking forward to watching your progress in the Tri-County tournament in April.
