Parking Arrangements Over the Next Few Weeks
Dear Parent/Guardian,
As you are aware, we are currently working on developing a plan to secure additional parking at Orritor Primary School. We recognise that parking is a challenge around the school and appreciate your continued patience as we work within the limits of the local area.
At present, due to ongoing work on the new Nursery Unit, we have lost some of our existing parking capacity, as well as the ability to manoeuvre safely in this area. The presence of large vehicles, including diggers and dumpers, has further restricted the available space.
To ensure the safety of our entire school community, we will be closing the gates on the nursery side to vehicle access. This area will remain open for pedestrian access only. This decision has been made to reduce risk and avoid any potential health and safety incidents on site.
We kindly ask for your understanding, patience, and cooperation when parking around the school and along the Orritor Road.
Please note the following guidance:
- Front Parking: When parking at the front of the school, it is strongly advised that vehicles reverse into parking spaces. This greatly improves visibility and safety when exiting.
- Use of Spaces: Please ensure that the spaces closest to the kerbing are filled first. This allows all available spaces to be used efficiently and helps reduce congestion.
- Footpaths: If parking on or near footpaths, please be especially mindful of pedestrians during drop‑off and collection times, ensuring pathways remain clear and safe for everyone.
- Roadside Parking: When parking near Churchside Manor or School Gardens, please take extra care when pulling out of spaces and be aware of adults and children entering or exiting parked vehicles.
The safety of our school community remains our highest priority. By working together and following this guidance, we can help ensure a safer and more efficient environment for everyone.
We will endeavour to keep you informed of progress regarding additional parking arrangements.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and support.
Mr Cheevers
Principal, Orritor Primary School
