P1 & P6 Butterfly Release
8th Oct 2025
There was great excitement in the outdoor play area today as P1 and P6 worked together to release the butterflies the P6 children have been caring for as they develop. P6 have followed the progress of these insects from tiny little larva only 5mm long through the caterpillar and chrysalis stages before emerging as beautiful Painted Lady butterflies. They have fed them and observed them for a few days but today was finally the day to release them into the wild. All of the children were very gentle and kind with these delicate minibeasts as they allowed them to crawl over their hands, jumpers, faces and heads before placing them carefully on to the flowers and plants around the playground. Many thanks to all of the P1 children and staff for helping us with this important task.
