Orritor PS Reach the Final Four at the McCloy Cup! 🏑🏆
What an incredible day for Orritor Primary School! 🏑🌟 Our girls' hockey team traveled to Stormont today for the McCloy Cup Finals. Qualifying for the second year in a row, the girls were determined to push further into the tournament—and they did exactly that.
The team started strong with a 2-0 win against Augher PS, followed by two hard-fought 0-0 draws against Ballydown PS and the eventual tournament winners, Armstrong PS. They rounded out the group stage with a 1-0 win over Clough PS and a 3-0 victory against Irish Society. These results saw them finish joint top of their group and qualify for the Quarter Finals.
💥 The Knockout Rounds
In a tight Quarter Final against Gorran PS, the girls showed great composure. After taking the lead and then conceding, they fought back to score in the final two minutes, clinching a 2-1 win and a spot in the Semi-Final.
The Semi-Final against Strandtown PS was another battle. Despite having two goals disallowed, the girls kept working until the final whistle. With the game ending in a draw, it went to run-ins, where Strandtown PS held their nerve and progressed to the final.
🌟 Top 4 in Northern Ireland
Finishing in the top 4 primary schools in Northern Ireland is a massive achievement. These girls showed incredible teamwork and resilience throughout the day. They are fantastic ambassadors for Orritor PS, and we couldn't be prouder of their performance! 🏅
The day ended with a well-deserved celebratory McDonald’s. 🍔🍟
