From Ice to Steam - Primary Five Explores the Changing States Of Matter
12th Oct 2025
Primary Five have been learning about the states of matter through practical science activities. As part of their investigations , they observed a kettle boiling to explore how heat causes water to change from liquid to a gas. They watched steam rise from the spout and discussed how this process is called evaporation, where water particles gain energy and turn into water vapour. They also timed how long it took for ice to melt and return to liquid form ,helping them understand how temperature affects changes in state. On Tuesday 30th September , the class took part in a water cycle hunt around the school grounds.Working in teams, they searched for examples of evaporation, condensation, precipitation and collection, linking their observations to real -world processes. It was a fun and active way to reinforce their learning and everyone enjoyed spotting real life examples of the water cycle outdoors.
