Egyptian Day in Primary 5

12th Jun 2025

Our Egyptian Day in Primary 5 was an unforgettable adventure into the wonders of ancient Egypt! We started by following a traditional recipe to make our own delicious Egyptian flatbread, carefully writing out the instructions before tasting the final result-warm, golden, and drizzled with honey alongside a selection of tasty Egyptian fruits and vegetables. A massive thank you to Gail and the kitchen staff who cooked our bread after we left it to prove for an hour.

We explored Egyptian  culture in many creative ways, drawing detailed portraits of a pharaohs and investigating the fascinating Egyptian number system , testing our skills with some tricky calculations. The atmosphere was brought to life with the sounds of Egyptian music ,and we watched an exciting video of a snake charmer in action. Our learning continued with Horrible Histories’ Ancient Egyptians , where we discovered intriguing beauty tips and ancient medicines once used in daily life.
To end the day on a lively but sweaty note, we danced to Walk like An Egyptian , embracing the rhythm and energy of ancient times. It was a fantastic experience , full of fun, learning and hands on activities that made history come alive. All the class made a fantastic effort to dress up for the day , and some even managed to create their own fantastic costumes! A big , big shout out to all the mums who helped source , create or ensure costumes were assembled correctly for the day , for the beautiful eye makeup application and for the earlier start to the day this morning .. thank you so much …
