A Proud Moment for Orritor – Sod Cutting Ceremony for Our New Nursery Unit
Today marked a truly special milestone in the life of Orritor Primary School as we celebrated the official Sod Cutting for our brand-new Nursery Unit. We were honoured to welcome distinguished guests including Mr Keith Buchanan MLA, Mr Patsy McGlone MLA, Councillor Kerri Martin, Mr Liam McVeigh from Maghera Developments, Mr Wilbert Mayne MBE, our Vice Principal Mrs Karen Black, dedicated Nursery Staff, Members of the Board of Governors, and some of our enthusiastic Primary 7 and Nursery pupils.
Mr Cheevers delivered a heartfelt speech, reflecting on the significance of this exciting development and the joy of being able to provide a wonderful new space for our youngest learners and the wider community. He expressed sincere thanks to everyone who has contributed their time, effort, and support to bring this vision closer to reality.
The ceremonial cutting of the sod was a proud moment, captured in photographs that will become part of our school’s history. Afterwards, guests enjoyed refreshments and conversation in our current nursery, celebrating the beginning of a new chapter for Orritor.
A huge thank you to Andrew Baird from Studio82 Photography for capturing the event today.
We are thrilled to see this dream taking shape and look forward to the many happy memories that will be made in our new Nursery Unit.
