Orritor Primary School & Nursery Unit – Weekly Newsletter
23rd Jan 2026
It has been another lively and enjoyable week at Orritor Primary School & Nursery Unit. The school has been buzzing with learning
and plenty of happy faces throughout the week
.
Our After-School Clubs continued this week, providing pupils from Primary 1 to Primary 7 with a wide variety of enjoyable activities once the school day ends. From sports to creative sessions, children are thoroughly enjoying the opportunities on offer.
There is still time for pupils to get involved – if you would like your child to join, please contact the school office
.
We were delighted to welcome Rev. Lecky back to school to lead assembly this week. He continued his engaging series exploring the amazing animals God has created
, which the children thoroughly enjoyed. There is lots of excitement already about discovering which animal will feature next week!
Primary 6 had a fantastic day on Thursday as part of their Future Visions programme. Pupils from St Mary’s Primary School visited Orritor Primary School & Nursery Unit, giving everyone the opportunity to meet their new friends again and take part in creative writing workshops
. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience for both pupils and staff.
This week’s Excellent 8 focus was Trust
– being someone others can depend on, feel safe with and be honest towards. Trust is essential in building positive friendships, supportive classrooms and a caring school community.
Our pupils worked towards this focus in the following ways:
Nursery to P2
– being honest with teachers and friends, and keeping promises
P3 and P4
– showing honesty, reliability and supporting classmates
P5 to P7
– consistently demonstrating trustworthiness through honesty, reliability and respect
Primary 6 pupils enjoyed their third swimming session at the Leisure Centre this week. The children continue to make excellent progress, and it has been lovely to see their confidence grow with each session
.
Cool for School Photography visited school today to take individual photographs of the children
. A mop‑up session will take place later in the term and details will be shared once confirmed.
A sincere thank you to Dougie for his time today and for making the experience such a positive one for the children
Best wishes to all our Primary 7 pupils who will receive their SEAG results tomorrow. Whatever the outcome, you should be extremely proud of the effort and commitment you have shown. Well done to all — you are a credit to Orritor Primary School & Nursery Unit.
