Orritor Primary School & Nursery Unit – Weekly Newsletter
Another busy and exciting week in Orritor! We’ve had a wonderful few days filled with learning, visitors, shared‑education experiences, and lots of smiling faces across the school.
After-School Clubs
Our After‑School Clubs continued this week, offering Primary 1 to Primary 7 pupils a fantastic range of activities after school. From sports to crafts and everything in between, the children are really enjoying these sessions. There is still time to join! If your child would like to take part, please contact the school office.
Nursery Shared Education – Visit from St. Peter’s Nursery Unit
On Tuesday, our Nursery children welcomed St. Peter’s Nursery Unit for our first Aspire Shared Education session of the year—and it was a brilliant morning. After enjoying some shared play, Coach Ronan led an energetic physical‑development session with rowing to music, stretchy‑band teamwork and hand‑strength activities. The children finished with a lively group dance and Ronan’s big “We did it!” to celebrate. We look forward to visiting St. Peter’s next month.
Assembly with Rev. Lecky
We were delighted to welcome Reverend Lecky back to school for assembly. He continued his series on the wonderful animals God has created, much to the children’s delight. Everyone is already wondering what next week’s animal will be!
P6 Future Visions Programme
Primary 6 had a great day on Thursday as part of their Future Visions programme. This week they visited St Mary’s Primary School, meeting up with their new friends and taking part in a variety of fun activities. Both pupils and staff had a fantastic time.
Excellent 8 Focus – Being Respectful
This week’s Excellent 8 focus was Being Respectful, and our pupils demonstrated this beautifully.
- Nursery–P2 used kind words and gentle hands.
- P3–P4 used polite language and took turns well.
P5–P7 listened carefully to others and valued different opinions.
We are very proud of all our pupils for the respect they showed throughout the week.
P6 Swimming – Week 2
Primary 6 enjoyed their second week of swimming at the Leisure Centre. The children are doing really well, and it has been fantastic to see their confidence growing each week.
